L2L Student Volunteer Educators (SVE)
Purpose:
- To help strengthen the organization through student support in the
community.
- To provide students with an opportunity to gain experience working with a
not-for-profit organization.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Each member will serve on one of the following SVE Committees:
- Program Committee – help develop and improve L2L’s program.
- Communication Committee – help promote L2L’s program and design L2L’s website.
- Sustainability Committee – help develop ways to create sustainability of
L2L’s program in the community.
Members must also commit to attending meetings (4 meetings throughout the
year), and communicating with each other and L2L staff via e-mail as
necessary.
What Members Get:
- Volunteer experience in the non-profit, education sector
- Community service hours (as approved by school)
- Opportunity to meet with community leaders and students from other
schools
- Letter of reference/certificate from L2L
Qualifications:
- Must be in Grades 10, 11 or 12, in good academic standing.
- Recommendation from teacher, guidance counselor, or principal.
- Empathetic to students who struggle to achieve.
