For students
This site can be of help to all students, and is created to supply resources to assist in gaining higher academic achievement. Students already achieving good grades will be most likely to use this site, and we encourage these students to share the site with others.

For many students, the publicly supported educational system is performing better than ever in terms of higher critical thinking, academic achievement, multiple activities and counseling for the future.  There are also students whom the conventional system cannot help.

It is for the rest of the students in between, those who have fallen through the cracks, for whom L2L tries to offer an engaging alternative to participate.  By changing the learning methods and ‘environments’ to those of informed ‘coaching’ and one-on-one student-to-student working relationships, L2L has net with considerable success, with the important support of the schools and teachers,  in helping many students.

For parents
There are rich resources on the L2L site which can be of assistance to parents. The best support for the child’s education is a strong cooperation between the families and schools. That is the first and most important piece for the child.

Helping children academically is very tricky for parents because the best academic help outside the classroom comes in the form of ‘coaching’. This requires patience and knowledge often very difficult for parents to separate from their parental roles.

Parents can review the resources on the site to gain a better understanding of the programs that can and have been very helpful to many families. If a group of parents wishes to follow this up further, contact L2L and arrange for a workshop on the topic.

For schools
The L2L program consists of a mini ‘course’ of about 20 hours, five in preparation and training for tutoring, and 15 hours for the practical tutoring. As each school is unique in its learning environments and processes, L2L fits in with those priorities.

The courses can run with grade 7 to 12 students who have high achievement and good peer relationships. L2L provides the initial course instruction and expects that the tutoring itself to be arranged and supervised by the school liaison and leading tutors. Many, if not most, of the schools already have a tutoring program in place. Enrolment in a single L2L course should not exceed 6 to 8 members. Further courses can be added as time and circumstance allow. It is anticipated that the schools will work toward running the L2L program autonomously on site.

Schools should have strategies of attracting those students who clearly need the help to engage in their school work. Many students have given up and just spend their time on other things.  This is the real challenge for the wider community – the lost potential. L2L provides one low maintenance, cost-free and alternative way to address this challenge.
